First edition, first printing, number 44 of 400 copies, inscribed on the front free endpaper by both author and the artist, "For Bill McElwee - who knows the good ones - Donald Wandrei" and "For Bill McElwee - Good! Harold Wandrei". The recipient was publisher William J McElwee, who knew, and published the writings of, August Derleth, friend of Lovecraft and co-founder, with Wandrei, of Arkham House. Dark Odyssey was Wandrei's second book, with his mysterious poems well-accompanied by his brother's ghoulish illustrations.
