The Way We Live Now.

First edition, first impression, number 175 of 200 numbered copies signed by Sontag and Hodgkin, from a limited edition of 243 copies in total. Hodgkin and Sontag's beautifully produced collaboration is considered one of the great livres d'artiste of the century, and though this copy lacks the separate lithograph which almost always is lacking (invariably framed and thus disconnected from the book), to have a copy preserved in the original publisher's box is a fine thing. Sontag's short story, an account of an AIDS sufferer, originally appeared in the New Yorker 1986, and was included in the Best American Short Stories of the Twentieth Century edited by John Updike. This book was included in Riva Castleman's survey of the finest livres d'artiste of the 20th century (A Century of Artist's Books).
