Omar Repentant.

First edition, first printing, number 89 of 100 copies on Japan Vellum signed by Le Gallienne, and with an additional quatrain not appearing in the trade edition. Le Gallienne had published a translation of Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat in 1897, but Omar Repentant is his own creation, a poetic satire on Khayyam's own adulation of drink as a solution to all philosophical quandaries: "The Grape! The Vine! - O what an evil wit / Have words to gild the blackness of the pit! / Said so, how fair it sounds - the Vine! the Grape! - / O call it whiskey - and be done with it." Rare thus.
