First edition, first impression, presentation copy inscribed by Tennant on the front free endpaper, "for Peter St John, from Stephen Tennant, April 1962, This gay absurd little book may amuse you - I hope. Wilsford Manor, Salisbury, Wiltshire. England." The first edition is scarce in itself (OCLC records only 12 copies institutionally worldwide, a reprint from 1986, on the eve of his 80th birthday, is more easily come by in the trade), especially so in the illustrated jacket, and rare inscribed.
